KYLE DEFOOR AFTER ACTION REVIEW

2 DAY ADVANCED CARBINE

We covered so much material. I will try to add to the above AAR even though I know I'll probably forget some stuff. I shot a DD M4V1 using 62 gr green tip throughout the class. No problems with the gun whatsoever. After zeroing at 100 yds, we moved back to the 200 yd line and shot a few strings. Kyle showed us that regardless of what scientists and some math guys say about where the bullets will land, you have to shoot at the distance yourself to figure out where the rounds will actually land. Most all of us were pleasantly surprised where the rounds impacted at 200 yds and how close it actually was to 100 yds. Before leaving the 200 yd line, we also did a drill where we ran 100 yds and fired 10 rounds at 200 yds. This was to elevate our heartrate so that we'll know what it's like to shoot with a slightly increased heart rate. It was really eye opening to see how much and how quick that little dot dances around on the bull at that distance. We also learned how to properly run with a carbine and the advantages of the high ready and how it is advantageous to use this at times over the low ready.
