NORTHERN RED 2 DAY CARBINE GUNFIGHTER 29-30 SEP 2012 - HIGH VIEW, WV

The intended audience for this course is shooters with prior knowledge of marksmanship fundamentals, strong weapons handling and manipulation skills. Relying on this former knowledge, students will be evaluated on their performance at basic shooting tasks and then pushed to execute and evaluate the skills necessary to perform successfully in a firearm engagement.

J.D. Potynsky's military service includes serving as the senior weapons sergeant on a Specials Forces A-Team for the US Army's 3rd Special Forces Group Ft. Bragg, NC. J.D. has conducted combat operations on multiple deployments in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) Iraq and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) Afghanistan. His combat decorations include the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal with Valor for actions during a 6 hour gunfight in Afghanistan. J.D. continued to deploy after his military career as a Program Manager and Country Manager in Iraq for a 200 man Private Security Contract. J.D. was formerly Director of Training for one of the nation's top marksmanship schools before founding Northern Red. He continues to shoot competitively in 3-gun, multi-gun, sniper matches, IDPA and IPSC.

2 Day Pistol Carbine

Northern Red is a new training company in the industry, formed by a number of prior service Special Operations personnel specializing in training and advising .mil, LE and motivated civilians in a variety of topics. NR was primarily founded by JD Potynsky, the prior director of training for TigerSwan, a 3rd Group Special Forces NCO, NCAA football player, mixed martial arts athlete (having trained in Brazil with some of the Gracies) and Wall Street finance advisor. Most everything JD has done, he has done in the “big leagues”. JD’s counterpart for this class was another 3rd Special Forces Group NCO, Paul Tobias. Paul went through Special Forces Selection with JD and mentored him on shooting (Paul was a shooter before entering the military). Today, Paul is a sponsored 3-gun competitor in addition to being a former Assaulter with 3rd Group. Between the combat and competitive shooting experience Paul has accumulated, he is a force to be reconed with. Paul is also incredibly humble, and as approachable and personable as they come. Northern Red will be offering instruction under the Grey Group umbrella so enrollment will be easily achieved.
